Q. Who can participate in the Institute?

All high school students grades 9-12, or the Classes of 2021-2025 (this includes rising freshmen and graduating seniors) can register for the Institute.


Q. How long is the Institute?

The Institute runs from June 14th to August 6th – 6 weeks of programming, a one-week break for the July 4th holiday, and a final week of panel presentations and our certification celebration.


Q. Do we have to be YMCA members to participate?

No YMCA membership or program experience necessary!


Q. Is there a fee, and are scholarships available?

Yes, the Institute fee is $100. Need-based scholarships are available to interested participants – please email for more information


Q. Will we need a computer/internet?

Yes – the Institute will be primarily virtual. While participating by phone may be possible, most of our virtual settings will require interaction via screen. If you are in need of either a computer or internet access at home, we may be able to connect you to resources in your community through your local Y.
